Superior Farm Sheep

Explore, Experience, Discover.
The goal of our Farm Camp is to provide a meaningful experience for your child by providing opportunities for daily connection to food, animals and the natural world.

Ready to discover farm-life?

Registration is Open

We have 6 weeks of fun-filled farm camp this year, each with a different theme. No matter the theme, campers can expect to spend lots of time with our amazing animals. We look forward to welcoming you to the farm!

Campers will immerse themselves in everything Superior Farms has to offer including daily farm chores, such as feeding and cleaning the animals, collecting eggs, planting seeds, weeding and harvesting. The fun doesn’t end there: with different themes to discover, activities will engage the mind and senses, inviting campers to develop a new relationship with the farm animals, their food and the natural world.

Using child-led, place-based, and play-based learning principles, we aim to make farm camp a place for laughter, connection, friendships, engaging activities, learning, fun and growth. With tons of outdoor space, a sports court, greenhouses galore, and many furry and feathered friends to meet, we have plenty of space and modes of practice to engage and support our campers.

Summer Camp Details

Each week, campers aged 5*-12 are invited to join us on the farm. Except where specifically requested, children will be grouped based on age as best possible. For 2023, we’ve changed our ratio, with a maximum ratio of 1 camp educator to 8 campers during the program.

For 2023, we have SIX different themes, a new theme each week with its own unique project, to choose from.

Campers can participate in either our morning half-day (ages 5*-9) or full day (ages 6*-12) farm camp programs. The morning half day program is open to sibling pairs as long as one sibling meets the age requirements.

Campers must be 5 OR 6 by December 31, 2023 in order to participate.

Program Theme Descriptions

No matter the theme, our animals form the core aspect of our camp. Themes guide the activities, crafts and projects that campers participate in.

Get up close and personal with the tiniest critters around the farm and learn about all of the fascinating creatures that play a role in our farm ecosystem: pests, pollinators, worms, fungi, and more! Campers will explore soil ecosystems, catch bugs, build a worm compost, feed the worms and look under logs, among other activities.

All of this in addition to time spent with the farm animals and in the garden will make for a buzzing good time!

This session focuses on the science that goes into farming and the fun science you can do with items from around the farm!

Campers will be farmers and scientists this week while participating in a variety of fun science-based activities, rooted in the farm and natural spaces, so that they have fun while getting hands-on with everything science-y that the farm has to offer.

This is the real farming deal! Using an immersive and dynamic approach to food, farming and fun, this session allows campers to explore what it means to be a farmer.

From learning about garden planning, animal care, to seeding and sowing veggies, to harvesting and tasting freshly harvested produce, campers will be deeply rooted in this unique journey.

This week has a special focus on the creatures that go bah, mah and cluck! That is, the animals that can have a role in our lives, whether providing food, like eggs and milk, or fibres, like wool, for our clothes.

Campers will learn about the importance of farm animals, their care and husbandry, feeding, life cycles, babies, grooming, and milking. They’ll also have the chance to create using natural fibres.

This week is about the farm and nature! Campers will use all of their senses to build a relationship with the natural spaces around the farm through art, activities, exploration, and play.

Campers will walk in the woods, create with natural found materials, practice environmental sustainability, practice plant identification and nature skills, and let nature influence and animate their art.

This week of camp focuses on the bounty of the summer! Campers will use their senses to explore fresh, locally-grown produce. From harvesting and fresh eating, to season extension, to nutrition, and winter garden planning, this week highlights local growing.

Campers will harvest, taste, prepare simple foods, and learn about ways to preserve food to enjoy local produce throughout the year.

Additional Information

No refunds will be issued if a reservation is cancelled within 14 days of the session start date. Otherwise, 90% camp fees are refundable (10% will be retained as an administration fee). Please note, we will consider a transfer of registration given a minimum 1 week notice prior to the beginning of the applicable camp session, in which case a full refund will be offered (minus a $15 admin fee). Refunds will not be issued for missed camp days due to inclement weather, absence, illness, changing of ongoing public health regulations or COVID-19 related closures. Requests for cancellations or refunds must be made in writing and submitted to camp@superiorfarmsbc.ca

Campers are expected to bring their own waste-free and nut-free snacks and lunch (if applicable) with them each day.

We recommend packing a couple substantial snacks, as campers tend to be hungrier than normal from being active outdoors. Programs will take place outdoors except in the case of severe weather (e.g., thunderstorms).

We do not have any air conditioned spaces and in the case of extreme heat, we will adapt the programming and activities accordingly to keep campers safe and cool.

Participants will be required to practice proper hand hygiene before and after eating and adhere to our “no food sharing” policy.

Clothing and Personal Items

We ask that campers refrain from wearing sandals to the farm as they do not properly protect your feet when spending time with the animals (if stepped on or when performing animal chores). We also suggest campers wear clothing that can get dirty or get potentially stained (e.g., we may paint with acrylic paints, which are hard to remove from clothing if not washed immediately). We recommend campers come prepared for all types of weather. You are welcome to leave items at camp for the week, however Superior Farms will not be held accountable for lost items.

Please remember to always pack the following:

  • Water bottle (at least 500ml)
  • Sun hat with a wide brim
  • Sunscreen (minimum 30 SPF recommended)
  • Closed toe shoes (for hiking and visiting the farm animals)
  • 2 pairs of socks
  • Rain jacket (100% waterproof, with a hood)
  • Rain boots (rubber boots)
  • An extra change of clothes

Please do not bring:
