Our Summer Farm Camp has now ended for 2021

Thank you to all of the campers, educators, and staff who made it such a success. Please check back in the February for more information on our 2022 season and stay tuned for information on our Pro-D day camps. We look forward to welcoming everyone to summer farm camp next year!

Explore, Experience, Discover.

The goal of our Farm Camp is to provide a meaningful experience for your child by providing opportunities for connection to food, animals and the natural world.

Here are some moments for this year’s Summer Farm Camp
Summer Camp Details

Campers can participate in either our Farm Explorer (ages 6-9*) or Farm Discovery (ages 9*-12) programs and can choose from three areas of focus.

  • Within each program theme, activities will vary based on age group, with the Farm Discovery programs incorporating a dash of leadership and team building experiences.
  • Within each program, campers will be grouped together based on age as much as possible to create an age-appropriate experience.
  • Campers will receive their own camp t-shirt and work on a special art project to bring home at the end of the week.

*if children are 9 during the program and turning 10 in the calendar year they can choose to either take part in our Farm Explorer or Farm Discovery program.

Program Themes

Future Farmer

From seeding veggies, to harvesting, to planting kale, and creative art!

Future Farmer

Using an immersive and dynamic approach to food, farming and fun, this session allows campers to explore everything that the farm has to offer in a safe and inclusive way.

Campers will keep busy in four focus areas: planting, harvesting, animal care, and creative art. From seeding veggies, to harvesting, to planting kale, to creative art and tasting freshly harvested produce, campers will be deeply rooted in this unique journey.

Aside from their farm tasks and activities, campers will work on a special week-long project to bring a unique creation home at the end of the week.

Sign your child up to explore all the farm has to offer and give them an experience they will remember and love forever!

Nature Adventures

Immerse in the environment and the farm through stories, art, exploration, and play.

Nature Adventures

Following child-led, place-based experiential learning principles, this week is all about the farm and nature with activities in the natural spaces that surround the farm.

Campers will use all of their senses to build an on-going relationship with a place in nature and will immerse themselves in their environment and the farm through stories, art, exploration, and play.

In addition to daily farm activities, including connection with our farm animals, campers will walk in the woods, relax in the grass, practice environmental sustainability, and let nature influence and animate their art. From nature journals to outdoor painting and hand-on activities, campers will create memories and a special nature project that they will treasure for years to come!

Small Wonders

Learn about all of the fascinating creatures that play a role in our farm ecosystem!

Small Wonders

Get up close and personal with the tiniest helpers on the farm. Campers learn about all of the fascinating creatures that play a role in our farm ecosystem: pests, pollinators, worms, fungi, and more!

Campers will explore soil ecosystems, catch bugs, build a worm compost, feed the worms and look under logs, among other activities. Campers will learn about different types of insects and other small creatures, their behaviours, senses and adaptations, including how to communicate like bees.

Crafts and activities will be packed with bugs, bees, salamanders, frogs, toads and more. Campers will work on a special project to take home at the end of the week to help the pollinators.

All of this in addition to time spent with the farm animals and in the garden will make for a buzzing good time!

Farm Camp Summer 2021 Handbook

Campers are expected to bring their own waste-free and nut-free snacks and lunch (if applicable) with them each day. We recommend packing a couple substantial snacks, as campers tend to be hungrier than normal from being active outdoors. Participants will be required to practice proper hand hygiene before and after eating and adhere to our “no food sharing” policy.

Clothing and Personal Items

Programs will take place outdoors except in the case of severe weather (e.g., extreme heat, thunderstorms). We recommend campers come prepared for all types of weather. You are welcome to leave items at camp for the week, however Superior Farms will not be held accountable for lost items.

Please remember to always pack the following:

  • Water bottle (at least 500ml)
  • Sun hat with a wide brim
  • Sunscreen (minimum 30 SPF recommended)
  • Closed toe shoes (for hiking and visiting the farm animals)
  • 2 pairs of socks
  • Rain jacket (100% waterproof, with a hood)
  • Rain boots (rubber boots)
  • An extra change of clothes

What NOT to bring:

  • Cellphoneas
  • Handheld video games
  • Electronic devices
  • Valuable items
  • Weapons (or toys that look like weapons)
  • Money

No refunds will be issued if a reservation is cancelled within 2 weeks of the session start date. Otherwise, camp fees are refundable, less a $50 administration fee.

In the event that Superior Farms cancels your session due to changes in COVID-19 regulations, a full refund (less a non-refundable administrative fee) or credit towards any future programs will be offered. Refunds will not be issued for missed camp days due to illness or inclement weather.

Keeping your children safe while enjoying the camp experience is our top priority. To ensure the health and wellbeing of our campers, the following are some of the practices we employ:

  • Daily Covid-19 screening for staff and camp participants and their family
  • Outdoor programming wherever and whenever possible and ensuring ventilation in any indoor spaces (e.g., greenhouse walls will be opened)
  • Physical distancing on camper drop off and pick up (caregivers will be asked to wait in their car if there is a lineup to drop off or pick up campers)
  • Masks worn by staff when inside or when physical distancing is not possible
  • Mask wearing is encouraged, but not required as per provincial health guidelines, for any camper under the age of 12 in indoor spaces.
  • Children will be well-supervised during hand-washing and reminded about physical distancing and proper hygiene practices.
  • We will teach and expect that staff and students practice respiratory hygiene (including covering coughs, avoiding touching the face, and not sharing any food, drinks or personal items).
  • Campers will always be in their designated session groups, even if there is only one of them in extended care periods.
  • If a staff or camper is displaying any cold or flu-like symptoms while at camp, they will be removed from all camp activities and sent home to isolate.
  • Buildings for camp use will be cleaned and disinfected daily and minimum twice-daily surface-sanitizing processes for high-contact surfaces will be followed by staff. High touch surfaces will be reduced wherever possible.
